Summer School of the IDK Philology

The Summer School took place on October 17th and 18th at the LMU Munich. The event provided a platform for the presentation and discussion of the PhD students' dissertation projects as well as for the presentation of the e-learning tool. On the second day, the PhD candidates also had the opportunity to hold individual career talks with Principal Investigators from the International Doctorate Program Philology.

Interdisciplinary exchange and career talks

On both days of the event, IDK Philology PhD students presented their dissertation projects in the final stages. The presentations and projects were discussed intensively by the participants. As part of the Summer School, selected philological texts were also analysed and discussed by the IDK PhD students and PIs.

The e-learning tool being developed at the IDK was presented by Marco Pouget on the basis of his already completed project. Together with the IT Group Humanities, which is responsible for the technical implementation of the tool, an insight into the Worldphilology platform was also provided. A joint dinner at the end of the first day provided an opportunity for intensive discussions.

On the second day, other PhD students presented their dissertation projects, which were then discussed in the group. This was followed by a career coaching session, during which participants were able to hold individual career discussions with the PIs Irene Holzer, Beate Kellner, Florian Mehltretter, Claudia Olk and Susanne Reichlin.

The Summer School was a great success and gave the PhD students the opportunity to present and discuss their work. The lively and informative exchange also offered participants valuable insights into the work of their colleagues. In addition, the event enabled an intensive dialog with the PIs of the research group.

We would like to thank all doctoral students, PIs and guests for the productive days.
