What happens after Graduation?

Students of the Elite Graduate Program “Scientific Computing” explored this question in depth during a two-day soft skills seminar. Topics such as creating a convincing application, active career planning, and the influence of different generations on everyday working life were discussed theoretically and reinforced through practical exercises.

A Convincing Application

The first part of the seminar focused on the starting point of every professional career: creating a strong and convincing application. Even small details in a résumé or cover letter can determine whether HR departments and hiring managers decide for or against a candidate. Beyond formal aspects, the seminar highlighted how to present one’s personality and motivation authentically.

Career Planning and Personal Performance

The second part focused on personal career development. How can individual performance be applied in a targeted way? What steps are necessary for professional growth? These questions were explored through practical exercises designed to help the participating students of the Elite Graduate Program “Scientific Computing” identify their strengths, define their goals, and actively shape their career paths.

Different Generational Perspectives

In everyday working life, employees from different generations frequently interact, often bringing together diverse attitudes and communication styles. Especially in stressful situations, this can lead to misunderstandings and conflicts. The final part of the seminar therefore examined the typical characteristics of each generation and raised participants’ awareness of how to interact with one another constructively.
