“You’re simp­ly the best” – En­joya­ble cere­mony for the grad­uates of the Elite Net­work of Ba­varia in Re­gens­burg, in­clud­ing the presentation of certif­icates and con­gratu­la­tions by Minis­ter of State Blume.

On 9 No­vem­ber 2024, around 400 new mem­bers had the op­por­tunity to get to know the wide range of offer­ings of the Elite Net­work of Ba­varia and to estab­lish first con­tacts at the Get To­gether in the Au­dimax of the TU Mu­nich.

Prof. An­dreas Kipf, grad­uate of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram "Soft­ware Engi­neer­ing", gave a lec­ture in the lec­ture series of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram. In his lec­ture, Prof. Kipf pre­sent­ed re­search on using ma­chine learn­ing for data­bases.

In the mul­ti-part 6 months ESA Chal­lenge, the SATEC stu­dents were able to pre­vail against strong com­peti­tion and con­vince the jury with flexi­bility, re­source effi­ciency and au­tono­my in the opera­tion of the simu­lated satel­lite Mel­vin.

A stu­dent group from Mu­nich de­veloped a mo­lecu­lar re­cord­ing tool at the RNA level with a fluo­rescent readout, earn­ing a Gold Medal at the iGEM syn­thetic biolo­gy com­peti­tion, com­peting against over 400 teams worldwide.

As part of the sec­ond Sum­mer School of the Inter­national Doctorate Pro­gram Phi­lology, PhD stu­dents were offered a plat­form to dis­cuss their dis­serta­tions and were given indi­vidual per­spec­tives in career talks with their su­pervi­sors.

The new jour­ney of the sev­enth cohort of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Hu­man Biol­ogy – Prin­ciples of Health and Dis­ease” (MHB) began in Octo­ber 2024 after a highly com­peti­tive ad­mis­sions pro­ce­dure.

This year's fes­tive recep­tion at Schleißheim Palace once again fo­cuss­ed on volun­tary work. The Elite Net­work of Ba­varia was able to send 10 com­mit­ted mem­bers who en­joyed a won­derful sum­mer even­ing.

Once again this year, Lindau became a Mecca for young researchers, who had the unique opportunity to exchange ideas with the big names in their field - this time in physics. Max Weber scholarship holder Maximilian Lutz was one of the 16 participants invited to Lindau by the Elite Network and reports on his experiences.

In the morn­ing, the pro­gramme in­clud­ed a key­note speech on the MWP's an­nual theme of ‘Re­nun­cia­tion’, while in the after­noon, the Re­gens­burg schol­arship hold­ers invit­ed eve­ryone to take part in many dif­ferent ac­tivi­ties: from mind­ful­ness work­shops and hikes to a Wal­halla ascent and his­tor­ical city and mu­seum tours.
