In the beginning Django Asül performed a critical of society and satiric comedy about education.
Afterwards FIM alumna Prof. Dr. Julia Klier, partner of McKinsey and professor at the University of Regensburg, gave insights in her study “Höhere Chancen durch höhere Bildung?” (Higher chances because of higher ecucation?) in which she cooperated with the Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft (the Association for the Promotion of Science and Humanities in Germany). The facts contributed by this presentation were the base for discussions about the German education system.
Insights in politics were provided by Dr. h.c. Thomas Sattelberger who shared his experiences and goals as a member of Bundestag and pointed out political chances and challenges of the German education system. Furthermore Katja Urbatsch, founder of the platform ArbeiterKind.de, described the challenges many students have to deal with daily and made suggestions for improvement for the education system, policy and society.
The highlight of the day was the panel discussion, which was moderated by FIM student Nina Bachmann. In addition to the already mentioned guests, the discussion was completed by Peter Grau and Milos Rusic. As school principal of Martinschule Augsburg, a school for children with special needs, Peter Grau overcomes social challenges together with his pupils on a daily basis. FIM alumnus Milos Rosic, who founded the artificial intelligence start up Deepset, talked about not only the difficulties, but also about the opportunities as an educational pioneer who is the first university graduate in his family.
The panel members discussed a broad variety of topics concerning educational pionieers and education equality with the attendees.
Education equality and FIM
With its high fraction of educational pioneers, the Elite Graduate Program "Finance and Information Management" advocates the development of students whose parents do not have a university degree. This was the reason why the motto was a significant important topic for many students, the FIM Alumni Association and the coordination of the degree program.
Following the event, the annual general meeting of the Alumni Association was held. Finally, the informal part with food and drinks rounded off the successful event.
