The annual i-Target Retreat has taken place from the 6th to 7th of June 2018 at lake Chiemsee on the Fraueninsel. In the midst of the beautiful Bavarian alpine foothills, 42 scientific and medical doctoral students, postdocs as well as eight professors and project leaders spent an atmospheric and inspiring time together.
A delegation of scientists from Harvard Medical School in Boston was also present again. The guests were warmly welcomed and quickly become part of the i-Target community. In addition to the talks given by the doctoral students on their research work, the keynote speaker Professor Michael von Bergwelt from the Klinikum der Universität München impressed the participants with his lecture “Immunooncology 2018: Status, chances and challenges”. Another highlight of the scientific program was the talk of Stephanie Dougan, the guest speaker from the Harvard Immunology Program. She presented interesting findings from her research on anti-tumor Immunity.
The talks not only provided insights into exciting projects in the fields of immunobiology, immunotherapy and tumor biology, but were also the basis for personal exchange with each other. In a relaxed atmosphere, ideas were further developed and solutions for problems discussed.
In the free time, the participants had a lot of fun playing football and Frisbee together. Finally, the retreat also offered many opportunities to get in touch with each other.
