In this semi­nar, stu­dents of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Sci­en­tific Com­puting” solved com­plex prob­lems from indus­try and busi­ness using a wide varie­ty of tech­niques such as math­emat­ical mod­eling, nu­meri­cal meth­ods, and rein­forcement learn­ing.

From Sep­tem­ber 18 to 26, 2022, the 17th and 18th cohort of the MA pro­gram for East­ern Euro­pean Stud­ies trav­eled to Brati­slava, Banská Štiavnica and the High Ta­tras.

Many stu­dents of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Ba­varian Grad­uate School of Com­puta­tional Engi­neer­ing“ (BGCE) took part in the 2022 ver­sion of Ferienakad­emie in Sarntal (South Ty­rol), a sum­mer school or­gan­ised by three Southern-Germany uni­versi­ties.

As a spe­cial con­clu­sion to the lec­ture "Mathemat­ical Mod­eling for Cli­mate and Envi­ron­ment", Prof. Aiz­inger went on an ex­cur­sion with his stu­dents of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Sci­en­tific Com­puting” to the Al­fred We­gener Insti­tute in Bremerha­ven.

From Janu­ary to July 2022 Marie Reischke, stu­dent of the Elite Mas­ter’s Pro­gram “Ad­vanced Op­tical Tech­nolo­gies” was work­ing on her mas­ter’s thesis at the Arctic Uni­versi­ty of Trom­sø in Nor­way.

The Presi­dent of the Ba­varian State Par­lia­ment, Ilse Aign­er, invit­ed more than 3,000 guests to the sum­mer recep­tion of the Ba­varian State Par­lia­ment at the New Schleißheim Palace - in­clud­ing ten mem­bers of the Elite Net­work

As part of the "Ex­tra­cur­ricu­lar Learning Sites" semi­nar of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “MINT-Leh­ramt PLUS”, stu­dents inves­tigat­ed how well nature and sus­taina­bility can be taught in extra­cur­ricu­lar learn­ing sites dur­ing a field trip to northern Ger­many.

The PhDs of the Inter­na­tional Doc­torate Pro­gram "Re­think­ing En­vi­ron­ment" were intro­duced to Augsburg aquat­ic ecol­ogy, Astri­da Nei­mani's phe­no­me­nolo­gy, and the func­tions of water as a food, re­source, and natu­ral ele­ment.

Pro­fes­sors and Mas­ter stu­dents of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Global Change Ecol­ogy“ at the Uni­versi­ty of Bay­reuth par­tici­pated in the week-long IP­BES 9 meet­ing in Bonn - either as ob­serv­ers of the con­fer­ence or as vol­un­teers with the IP­BES secre­tariat - and took part in dis­cussion on nu­mer­ous top­ics.

The Max Weber Program had to cancel its summer party two years in a row due to the coronavirus pandemic. On June 26, 2022 it was finally possible to meet again. Scholarship holders from all over Bavaria accepted the invitation to the Max Weber summer party in the conference hall in Bamberg.
