The Ger­man aero­space socie­ty DGLR rec­og­nizes the con­tribu-tions of Pro­fessor Schil­ling to the field of small satel­lites with the pres­tigious Eu­gen Säng­er med­al.

Susnigdha Sen stud­ied due to the pan­demic visa delay in the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram "Inte­grated Im­munology" for one year more than 7000 km away, before she finally got to know her fellow stu­dents, pro­fes­sors and tutors on site - A field report by Susnighda Sen.

The annu­al MAP Alumni Round Ta­ble gives MAP stu­dents more in­sight into the future pro­fes­sional world. Three MAP alum­ni from dif­ferent coun­tries and pro­fes­sional fields were re­cruit­ed for the dis­cussion in 2021.

The stu­dents spent a week work­ing on quan­tum com­puting. In addi­tion to lec­tures by ex­perts in the field on theo­reti­cal prin­ciples and ex­peri­men­tal reali­sa­tion, there were also nu­mer­ous tasks to com­plete in small groups.

As part of an in­tern­ship, a stu­dent of Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Sci­entific Com­puting” got an in­sight into the simu­lation of Com­puta­tional Fluid Dy­nam­ics at the Ger­man Aero­space Cen­ter.

In the sec­ond half of 2021, San­dra Zim­mer­mann, a stu­dent in the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Global Change Ecol­ogy” of the Elite Net­work of Ba­varia, com­pleted a six-month in­tern­ship at the Ger­man Socie­ty for Inter­na­tional Co­opera­tion (GIZ) in the pro­ject area Cli­mate.

Omar Zeair, stu­dent of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Ad­vanced Ma­terials and Pro­cess­es” (MAP) at FAU Er­langen-Nu­rem­berg, re­flects on his in­tern­ship at lead­ing spe­cialty chem­icals com­pany Evo­nik and how his ”MAP skills” con­tributed to the suc­cess of his in­tern­ship.

Due to the ongo­ing pan­dem­ic, the "Max We­ber-Abend" took place online once again. More than 200 grant­ees at­tend­ed the wel­com­ing event to find out more about the pro­gram and to get to know their re­gional groups. In par­ticu­lar, the Coordination Office of the Elite Network of Ba­varia, the Max We­ber team and men­tors were pre­sent.

In the new “Bio­diver­sity, Cli­mate Change and Health” mod­ule from the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Global Change Ecol­ogy” at the Uni­versi­ty of Bay­reuth, stu­dents dis­cuss the rele­vant topic of inter­link­ages be­tween global change and health.

In the new mod­ule “Cli­mate Poli­cies and Eco­nom­ics” stu­dents from the Bay­reuth Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Global Change Ecol­ogy” learn about inter­na­tional cli­mate di­plomacy and eco­nomic con­cepts in the cli­mate change de­bate.
