We invit­ed all new mem­bers to our ‘Get To­geth­er’. Get­ting to know each other and the activ­ities of­fered by the Elite Net­work of Ba­varia was the major aim of this event. Due to the ongo­ing pan­dem­ic, the event took place online.

As part of the first Top­Math Online Sem­inar, Prof. Nico­la Fusco (Uni-versità degli Studi di Napo­li) gives in­sights into the world of geo­met­ric measure theo­ry and ex­plains the solu­tion to a math­emat­ical prob­lem that is thou­sands of years old.

Augsburg Uni­versi­ty and LMU Mu­nich cele­brate the start of the Inter­na­tional Doc­torate Pro­gram "Rethinking Environment", which sup­ports 20 doc­toral stu­dents in the Envi­ron­men­tal Hu­mani­ties. Speakers in­clud­ed Prof. Dr. Mat­thias Schmidt, PD Dr. Simone Mül­ler and Prof. Dr. Chris­tof Mauch.

At the start of the new se­mes­ter, stu­dents in the Mu­nich Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram "The­oreti­cal and Math­emat­ical Phys­ics" mount the Jochberg to get to know each other before the pan­demic leads to an­other se­mes­ter of main­ly online teach­ing.

Dur­ing the first week of the se­mes­ter a col­lec­tion of social and in­form­ative events were of­fered to our new stu­dents of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram "Bi­omedical Neu­rosci­ence". This in­clud­ed the intro­duc­tion of par­tici­pating insti­tu­tions, a ca­reer day and our joint event called “chemical kitch­en”.

A group of sophomore MSNE students, supported by faculty members and alumni, curated a MSNE project week. A unique combination of talks, workshops, debating, and social events to encourage the onboarding of the new batch of MSNE students.

Be­fore the offi­cial start of the Inter­na­tional Doc­torate Pro­gram “Re­think­ing Envi­ron­ment”, which sup­ports 20 PhD stu­dents in the Envi­ron­men­tal Hu­mani­ties, the se­lected PhD stu­dents get to know each other at a Kick-Off work­shop at LMU Mu­nich.

On 12 February, 2021, the annual Poster Session of the Elite Graduate Program “Advanced Materials and Processes” (MAP) took place. Due to the SARS-CoV2 pandemic this event moved online for the very first time.

In this semi­nar, the stu­dents had to deal with a wide varie­ty of prob­lems from our indus­trial part­ners. These were solved with the help of math­emat­ical mod­eling and nu­meri­cal math­emat­ics.
