Elite Cup 2024 - Perfect European Championship warm-up for the Elite Network members

The Elite Cup, the annu­al soccer tour­nament for mem­bers of the Elite Net­work of Ba­varia, took place on 8 June 2024. Held at the Uni­versi­ty of Re­gens­burg's sports park, the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram Hon­ors in Busi­ness, Eco­nom­ics, and In­for­mation Sys­tems wel­comed 12 teams and nu­mer­ous spec­tators. With over 200 peo­ple in at­tend­ance, the at­mosphere was unique even before the tour­nament be­gan. The weather was also at its best with a sunny 26 de­grees.

In excit­ing pre­limi­nary round matches, which were played in three groups of four teams each, the teams bat­tled it out for a place in the knockout phase. In addi­tion to the home team from Hon­ors in Busi­ness, Eco­nom­ics, and In­for­mation Sys­tems, also the "MQE Ball­ers" from the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gramm Quan­tita­tive Eco­nom­ics, the team from the Max We­ber Pro­gram, the "Cod­ing Kick­ers" for the Soft­ware Engi­neer­ing Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram, the cross-program team "Sci­entific Com­puting & ENB All­stars", the teams from the Elite Grad­uate Pro­grams Hon­ours De­gree in Tech­nolo­gy Man­age­ment (CDTM) and Theo­retical and Math­emat­ical Phys­ics (TMP), as well as "Carl's Won­derful World of Foot­ball" from the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram Glob­al Change Ecol­ogy quali­fied for the quar­ter finals.

But first there was the lunch break, dur­ing which the partic­ipants were well ca­tered for. Even dur­ing the games, there was al­ways plenty of nour­ish­ment avail­able for the audi­ence and play­ers - in­clud­ing a pop­corn ma­chine, apples and bana­nas. A mem­ber of Hon­ors’ jersey spon­sor KPMG Re­gens­burg was pre­sent until the final, show­ing the com­pany's sup­port and ap­preci­ation for the event.

In the after­noon, the re­main­ing teams once again gave their all to win the pres­tigious Elite Cup. After a thrill­ing match, the Max We­ber team se­cured third place. Hon­ors Re­gens­burg and TMP finally faced each other in the excit­ing final - a clas­sic for die-hard fans of the Elite Cup. The home team, Hon­ors Re­gens­burg, pre­vailed with a nar­row 1:0 victo­ry and suc­cess­fully de­fend­ed their title.

The Elite Cup 2024 was not only a com­plete sport­ing suc­cess, but also im­pressed with its excel­lent organ­iza­tion and friendly, re­laxed at­mosphere. Par­tici­pants and fans alike en­joyed a day full of sport­ing high­lights and shared ex­peri­ences.
