In exciting preliminary round matches, which were played in three groups of four teams each, the teams battled it out for a place in the knockout phase. In addition to the home team from Honors in Business, Economics, and Information Systems, also the "MQE Ballers" from the Elite Graduate Programm Quantitative Economics, the team from the Max Weber Program, the "Coding Kickers" for the Software Engineering Elite Graduate Program, the cross-program team "Scientific Computing & ENB Allstars", the teams from the Elite Graduate Programs Honours Degree in Technology Management (CDTM) and Theoretical and Mathematical Physics (TMP), as well as "Carl's Wonderful World of Football" from the Elite Graduate Program Global Change Ecology qualified for the quarter finals.
But first there was the lunch break, during which the participants were well catered for. Even during the games, there was always plenty of nourishment available for the audience and players - including a popcorn machine, apples and bananas. A member of Honors’ jersey sponsor KPMG Regensburg was present until the final, showing the company's support and appreciation for the event.
In the afternoon, the remaining teams once again gave their all to win the prestigious Elite Cup. After a thrilling match, the Max Weber team secured third place. Honors Regensburg and TMP finally faced each other in the exciting final - a classic for die-hard fans of the Elite Cup. The home team, Honors Regensburg, prevailed with a narrow 1:0 victory and successfully defended their title.
The Elite-Cup 2024 was not only a complete sporting success, but also impressed with its excellent organization and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Participants and fans alike enjoyed a day full of sporting highlights and shared experiences.
