With Dr. Jo­han­nes Fran­zen, the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Eth­ics of Tex­tual Cul­tures” ex­plored the ques­tion of why we argue about taste.

During the on-site evaluation of the International Doctorate Program “The Proteomes that Feed the World,” three students had the opportunity to present their individual projects from the fields of plant biology, proteomics, and bioinformatics.

Cele­brat­ing its 20th anni­ver­sary, the Max We­ber Pro­gram host­ed a grand reun­ion in Mu­nich: 300 alum­ni gath­ered for an Alumni Day to net­work, rekin­dle mem­ories, and shape ideas for the fu­ture.

A look be­hind the scenes of job allo­cati­on: In this semi­nar, stu­dents of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Sci­entific Com­puting” learned about the key deci­si­on-mak­ing pa­rame­ters used by man­agers and how they can ac­tively influ­ence them so that man­age­ment deci­sions are made in their favor.

The Doc­torate group host­ed its clos­ing con­fer­ence “Shaping the Fu­ture of Busi­ness and Hu­man Rights,” bring­ing to­gether about 60 par­tici­pants to de­bate four key clus­ters cen­tral to cur­rent busi­ness and hu­man rights dis­cussions.

On 30 Sep­tem­ber stu­dents, alum­ni, and pro­ject man­agers from the Uni­versi­ties of Bay­reuth and Würzburg joined 350 guests to look back on nine years of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “MINT-Leh­ramt PLUS” teach­er train­ing pro­gram.

Exciting projects from new industry partners awaited the students of the Elite Graduate Program “Scientific Computing” in the Modeling Seminar 2025. They were able to directly apply the knowledge they had acquired and solve problems innovatively.

The 2025 Sum­mer School of the Elite Grad­uate Pro­gram “Bi­omed­ical Neu­rosci­ence” ex­plored how AI can en­hance learn­ing and re­search in neu­rosci­ence. Through lec­tures, teamwork, and dis­cussion, stu­dents dis­cov­ered prac­tical ways AI can sup­port teach­ing and scien­tific pro­jects.

Six alumnae and alumni of the Elite Network will receive the prestigious Starting Grant from the European Research Council in 2025 and will be supported with up to €1.5 million for their research projects – congratulations!
