Many technological innovations are of disruptive nature
Many technological innovations are disruptive in nature with serious consequences for society, businesses and people. Nevertheless, these technologies are often the drivers of new value creation.
How does technological innovation emerge in large companies? How are the respective projects implemented? What influence do they have on people as individuals and society? All these questions had to be discussed during the panel discussion on "Disruptive Technologies: Invention - Implementation - Implication". On the evening of 16 May, more than 50 guests met for a panel discussion of the "Social Technologies AG" of the 14th year of the Elite Graduate Program Finance and Information Management (FIM).
The focus was on the principle that no technological invention leads to broad acceptance and market success as long as the value is not communicated to the customers and the invention is successfully implemented. Moderated by Stephan Dreyer, student of the 14th FIM class, the guests Markus Dau from practice partner Carl Zeiss, Dr. Herbert Mayer from practice partner Hilti and Manfred Pumberger from BMW discussed various topics, which are or will become relevant for all companies due to the digitalization of the different industries.
In 15-minute impulse lectures, each guest first presented his experiences of what companies in turn contribute to the digitization of the respective industry, how employees, society and other stakeholders are affected and what responsibility the companies have in this respect. Afterwards, the discussion was open and the audience participated actively.
Finally, the panelists spent a lot of time at a small standing reception in a relaxed atmosphere to discuss remaining questions with the participants in a smaller group. All sides perceived the evening as very interesting, entertaining and exciting, so that a continuation is planned for 2019.
