EliteCup 2018: 16 teams - and a first-time winner!

Honors Wirtschaftswissenschaften Regensburg secures victory of this year’s EliteCup which had been organized by the previous winner Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM).

This year's EliteCup was played on Saturday, 9th June in Munich. For the first time in EliteCup history all participating teams already met Friday night before the tournament. CDTM Munich welcomed the teams in their study rooms and gave all participants a tour through the different rooms. This way everyone got an understanding what CDTM is all about and even experienced how CDTM students develop real prototypes. After a short introduction round all teams watched the last football tryout before the World Cup match between Germany and Saudi Arabia. Despite a rather poor performance of the German team, people were in a very good mood. We realized that there is something all participants from the different study programs in the Bavarian elite network have in common: open-mindedness and the will to have an impact on today's world.
Even though it was a long night for some students, all teams made it on time to the tournament on Saturday. In bright sunshine the CDTM welcomed the teams from all over Bavaria on the grounds of the ZHS in the Olympiapark Munich. 16 teams competed in the test of strength. Between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. the winner was determined in passionately conducted duels. Many of the matches had to be decided by a penalty shoot-out.
In a gripping finale, the players from Honors Wirtschaftswissenschaften prevailed with a tight but deserved 1:0 against the self-sacrificing CDTM players. Honors Wirtschaftswissenschaften Regensburg, who won the cup for the first time, will therefore host next year's edition of the EliteCup. We would like to thank all participants for their commitment and the maintenance of this tradition in the Bavarian Elite Network.
Special thanks to the Bavarian Elite Network as initiator and enabler of an event that already has main importance in the schedule of most students. Another thanks goes to the organizers of CDTM, especially for taking the initiative to set up a get-together on Friday night.
We are looking forward to seeing you again on the pitch for the EliteCup 2019 in Regensburg.
