Spring School

In the context of an international Spring School an intensive exchange between the REASON group and international experts and researchers took place. Three incubator stays were successfully conducted. REASON doctorate candidates presented their work in symposia and received poster awards in international conferences.

The 2nd Interdisciplinary REASON Spring School 2018 took place from March 5th to 7th, 2018. The event brought together around 70 participants in total. We were very thankful to welcome a number of outstanding experts: Rainer Bromme (University of Münster), Michelene (Micki) T.H. Chi (Arizona State University), Wolfgang Gaissmaier (University of Konstanz), Eileen Gambrill (University of Berkeley), Hansjörg Neth (University of Konstanz), Kurt VanLehn (Arizona State University) and Simine Vazire (University of California, Davis).

The scientific program included workshops and keynotes in the field. In the symposium “The use of evidence in research and practice across domains”, our REASON postdoctoral associate Dr. Christopher Osterhaus moderated the discussion on the meaning and interpretation of evidence in science and practice between professors from three disciplines (psychology, social work, educational sciences).

A highlight of the event was the roundtable discussions event, where nine Spring School professors held informal meetings with small groups of scholars on topics relevant to the (academic) future paths of early-career researchers. The discussions covered aspects such as Women in Academia, Spotting Important New Ideas, Interdisciplinary Work and Networking in Academia. Two further informal social events were planned: a Get Together on the first day and a Bavarian dinner on the second day.
